Situated at the entrance to the Gulf in the middle of the East-West trade routes, Oman's geographical location gives it easy access to markets in the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, Africa and Europe. A hub for some of the major shipping routes in the region, Oman Ports is expanding both major and minor ports, in a bid to grow its existing capacity and to handle the increase in non-oil exports. The country is also investing in port developments, and is attracting FDI to develop its free trade zones and diversify its economy.
In this report, we have listed the current and future projects in the Seaport Sector, both in the GCC and Oman Ports. The report provides a brief on the major Omani ports, the expansion projects currently underway, and the analysis of port volume and trade, in the country.
